Product Description

What is polyacrylamide?

Polyacrylamide(PAM) is a water-soluble linear polymer with a high degree of polymerization. It is soluble in water and insoluble in most organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, acetone, ether, aliphatic hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons It is widely used in metallurgy, beneficiation, oil extraction, coal washing, chemical industry, papermaking, textile, environmental protection, building materials, sugar manufacturing, medicine, agricultural production and other departments. Generally, typical polyacrylamide are cationic polyacrylamide(CPAM), anionic polyacrylamide(APAM), non-ionic polyacrylamide(NPAM), and amphoteric polyacrylamide.

What is Polyacrylamide PAM used for?

Polyacrylamide (PAM) is a polymer-based material used to promote erosion control and reduce soil confinement by binding soil particles, especially clay, and holding them in place at the site. In addition, these types of materials are used as water treatment additives to remove suspended particles from runoff.

Polyacrylamide

Classification of polyacrylamide

Cationic Polyacrylamide(C-PAM)

Cationic Polyacrylamide is a copolymer of cationic monomer and acrylamide. It is a water-soluble linear high molecular organic polymer. It is often synthesized by copolymerizing acrylamide with a cationic monomer such as diallyl dimethylammonium chloride (DADMAC). Cationic polyacrylamide is highly effective in flocculating and destabilizing negatively charged particles in water treatment processes, such as wastewater treatment and sludge dewatering. It is also used in industries like mining, papermaking, and oil and gas.

Characteristic

1.  Good water solubility, can be completely dissolved in cold water.

2.  High polymer electrolyte, suitable for anion-charged and organic-rich wastewater treatment.

3.  Cationic polyacrylamide products and inorganic flocculants (poly ferric sulfate, poly aluminum chloride, iron salts, etc.) have significant effects when used together.

4.  Cationic polyacrylamide has the following functions: clarification and purification; Enhanced sedimentation and filtration; thickening and other functions.

Application

1.  As a flocculant, it is mainly used in industrial solid-liquid separation processes, including sedimentation, clarification, concentration, and sludge dewatering processes. The applied industries are urban sewage treatment, papermaking industry, food processing industry, petrochemical industry, metallurgical industry, beneficiation industry, dyeing industry and sugar industry, and wastewater treatment of other industries. It is also used in sludge sedimentation and sludge dewatering in the treatment of municipal sewage and meat, poultry, and food processing wastewater.

2.  In the paper industry, it can be used as a paper dry strength agent, retention aid, and filter aid, which can greatly improve the quality of paper, save costs, and increase production capacity.

3.  Cationic polyacrylamide can be used as a clarifier for mining wastewater and coal washing wastewater in the mining and coal preparation industries.

4.  Cationic polyacrylamide can be used for the treatment of dyeing wastewater, leather wastewater and oily wastewater to remove turbidity and decolorization to meet discharge standards.

5.  Cationic polyacrylamide is used as a flocculant for water treatment in waterworks from river sources.

6.  It is also widely used as oilfield chemical agents in oilfield operations: such as clay anti-swelling agents, and thickeners for oilfield acidification.

Anionic Polyacrylamide(A-PAM)

Anionic Polyacrylamide (A-PAM): Anionic polyacrylamide contains anionic (negatively charged) functional groups. It is produced by copolymerizing acrylamide with a negatively charged monomer, such as acrylic acid. Anionic polyacrylamide products are water-soluble polymers, easily soluble in water, and insoluble in general organic solvents such as benzene, ether, lipids, and acetone. Anionic polyacrylamide is commonly used as a flocculant in water treatment processes, including clarification, sedimentation, and dewatering. It can effectively remove suspended solids, organic compounds, and colloidal particles from water.

Application

1.  Industrial wastewater treatment: Especially for suspended particles, thick, higher concentration, positively charged particles, neutral or alkaline wastewater, steel plant wastewater, electroplating wastewater, metallurgical wastewater, coal washing wastewater, etc.

2.  Drinking water treatment: Using anionic polyacrylamide as flocculant, the dosage is 1/50 of inorganic flocculant, but the effect is indeed many times or even dozens of times. It works better with cationic polyacrylamide for rivers with serious organic pollution.

3.  Paper additives: They can be used as clarification of caustic soda, retention aid, filter aid, and enhancer for wet and dry strength of paper in the paper industry.

4.  Used as a sugar clarifier in the sugar industry.

5.  Used in making incense, coatings and other fields as thickener or binder.

6.  Used as additives and binders in aquatic feed.

Non-ionic polyacrylamide (N-PAM)

Non-ionic polyacrylamide is made from the homopolymerization of acrylamide, which Is a high molecular weight low ion linear polymer. Non-ionic polyacrylamide does not contain any ionic functional groups and is electrically neutral. It is synthesized by polymerizing acrylamide alone. Non-ionic polyacrylamide is widely used as a flocculant in various applications where the presence of charged particles is minimal or where the pH conditions are close to neutral. It is often used in industries such as papermaking, mineral processing, and wastewater treatment.

Application

1.  Coal washing: Used for centrifugal separation of coal washing tailings and used in the precipitation and filtration of coal powder and slime, which can improve the recovery rate of coal powder and the filtration rate.

2.  Textile auxiliaries: Add some other chemicals to make a chemical slurry, which can be used for textile sizing to improve adhesion, permeability, and desizing performance.

3.  Sewage treatment: When the sewage is acidic, non-ionic polyacrylamide is more suitable, in combination with inorganic flocculant poly aluminum chloride and aluminum sulfate, the effect is better in water treatment.

4.  Metallurgical beneficiation: Leaching solution and residue can be added to PAM to improve sharing efficiency in the flotation and smelting of Zinc, Manganese and Copper Ore.

5.  Sand control: Dissolve non-ionic polyacrylamide to 0.3% concentration and add a crosslinking agent, Spray on the desert to control the sand.

6.  Chemical grout: 95% PAM and 5% Bis-acrylamide miscible can be used as chemical grout in dams, foundations, tunnels, etc.

Where can I buy polyacrylamide in bulk?

You may be able to find a small amount of polyacrylamide in your area. however, in order to purchase large quantities of PAM, it is best to import directly from the manufacturer. They can issue certifications and save money, which is better than buying small amounts of the chemical locally or from a distributor.

If you need polyacrylamide in large quantities, you can buy polyacrylamide on our website or contact us for more details.
